The earth grows nothing itself; it only allows everything to grow.
Kun is six yin lines, the extreme of receiving. Receiving is often misread as weakness, but it is closer to capacity — ground that holds a whole forest does it not by resisting but by having soil deep enough. The mare travels the earth: not fast, yet very far, because she never fights the ground.
Kun says: first lost, then finding a master. Rushing ahead loses your bearings; stepping back to your proper place, the road clears. This is the wisdom of the supporting role. Not being the initiator is not being powerless — many things succeed because someone is willing to hold them steady from below, unnamed and never leaving.
