Some rights and wrongs, once argued clear, end the relationship too.
Song is heaven and water each going its own way, directions opposed. The judgment: conflict cannot be carried to a finish — one who wins the suit does not necessarily get what he wanted. Once a dispute starts, attention shifts from the matter to the scoreboard; both sides defend positions and no one looks at facts anymore.
The best line here: he does not win the conflict, and returns — withdraws, stops fighting. Not surrender: recognition that this consumption is not worth it. What needs judging is never who is more right, but what you will lose by continuing. Saying less and leaving more room is usually better business than proving yourself.
