Fire over water — the thing not yet done.

Unfinished, and therefore begunBefore Completion

What is unfinished is what is alive.

Wei Ji, the last of the sixty-four — fire above water, each out of place. Nothing is complete. But Wei Ji is not failure: the end turns into a beginning — where the last round ended, the next begins. All who are truly alive live inside Wei Ji: unfinished work in hand, unsaid words in the heart, unwalked roads ahead. That is the norm.

The judgment: the little fox nearly across, wets its tail. One step short — still not done. Wei Ji's honesty: it does not promise you will cross the river, only that the river is here and you are still walking. That is already good enough.

Practice List your three unfinished things — no judging, no urging, no deadlines. The moment they are written, they have already begun to change.
In the four domains

01Career & decisions

You are minutes before the shore: order the crossing. Line up the last details, sequence the final moves, and do not celebrate in mid-river.

02Love & bonds

The relationship is almost landed — stay attentive, not presumptuous. The last stretch of water is where certainty gets wet.

03Wealth & resources

Finish the setup before spending the outcome: contracts signed, reserves kept, tail held high and dry until truly ashore.

04Body & mind

Rest belongs after the crossing, not during. Keep sleep guarded and judgment sober until the last step is taken.

Timing & action

One final push, carefully sequenced: complete the crossing this month, then feast on the far bank. Premature celebration is the only real danger left.
